Versatile Building Products started out by developing the Versa-Deck Waterproof Deck Coating line decades ago.  Versa-Deck was the first product and it was formulated to be used as a fiberglass waterproof deck 100% acrylic coating to be used over new and old walking deck surfaces.  The Versa-Deck Plus Pedestrian Deck Coating was added about 8 years later and it is formulated for use over plywood walking decks.  The system was tested and approved by ICBO for many years.  The company decided to not renew the ICBO (ICC Now) in 2007 since it became apparent that building inspectors were not enforcing the coatings being installed on decks (contractors would use our ICBO# for the permit and then install a less expensive system instead so now we are the less expensive system).  This has allowed us to reduce the cost of the product by passing on $40,000 per year savings to our customer. We did not see a dip in sales due to this and continue to grow that product line at double digit rates.  The Versa-Deck Line is designed to provide a waterproof non skid seamless deck coating to walking pedestrian decks, roof decks, balconies, patios, common walkways, stairs and courtyards.

3 STEP FIBERGLASS DECK COATING
Versa-Deck is a 3 step all Acrylic Single Component Deck Coating designed to coat over existing deck surfaces, concrete and tile.  After repairs are made to the surface a layer of fiberglass is laid out onto the deck and then Laminating Resin is then poured over the mat and then worked in using a roller and brush. When dry an Acrylic textured basecoat is then applied over the mat.  The final step is rolling out 2 coats of the Finish Resin over the dried Texture completing the installation.

4 STEP METAL LATH & FIBERGLASS DECK COATING
Versa-Deck Plus is a 4 step Waterproof Deck Coating System that has a base coat layer that which is a 1.75LB Metal Lath that is stapled to the plywood deck and then one layer of our Polymer Modified Metal Lath Cement is troweled over the Lath.  The Metal Lath Cement is fast drying and is virtually a non-shrink material; in fact the testing results show that the Polymer Modified Metal Lath Cement had greater adhesion to plywood deck than the 1” crown staples.  Then the Versa-Deck System is applied over the dried Metal lath Cement as soon as it dries which is usually an hour or less.  Versa-Deck Plus is formulated to be used over new plywood pedestrian walking decks that are made with a minimum of 5/8” CDX plywood that has been installed according to UBC codes.
