2010 Photo Contest Winners

1st Place: My Garage Works - $300 Winner

The floor used to have VCT which we had to scrape and grind to remove. This is the 4,000sf garage where we used Grey 4195 base & Tuxedo 1/4" flake with 25% added Purple. Then top we topcoated it with 5073 Polyurea. Not pictured was a 2,500 show room up front that was Black 4195 , Black, purple flake with glitter. That area came out Awesome!

2nd Place: The MJA Company - $150 Winner

This customer just built this house and needed a good solution for the garage floor to finish off the room. They didn’t want more of the same old solid colors. We came to them with the Roll on Rock® decorative flake system as a durable, good looking solution. The customer didn’t want to wait until summer and the warmer temperatures that come with it, to finish the floor. We had to overcome the end of a cold, snowy, Buffalo winter in order to complete the project. The area was approximately 900 sq. ft. and included stem walls all around. We prepped the floor, patched where needed using Divot Patch, and applied the 4195 with flakes to the walls and raised surfaces first. Next we applied the 4195 and flakes to the main floor, after cleaning up the loose flakes from the installation on the stemwall. After the material set we scraped and cleaned the loose flakes and applied the first coat of 5073 Polyurea to everything. We then applied a second coat of 5073 to the main floor area. The customer was extremely satisfied with the results.

3rd Place: Colorado Coating Services - $50 Winner

I used 4195 over the clean bare concrete and broadcast 1 Santana flakes.  I then used a coat of 5073. I applied the body coat and top coat with an 18” roller. That’s about it!

Runner Up: A Custom Garage

With so many pics it was hard to choose one that stands out above the rest. I think we did Versatile proud with this night club's mirror black flooring though.

The floor was shot blasted with #30 shot and the edges were diamond ground; the MVE was approx 10lbs at the time of testing. The coatings used were 4100 @ 7 mils, 4100 @ 5 mils, 4195 @ 10 mils + 1 x 41 accel. per gal., 4195 @ 5 mils + 1 x 41 accel per gal, finished with 2 coats of 5325 at 10 mils and 5 mils, respectively,  with 2 accelerators per gallon. This floor went down last winter in Bakersfield with temperatures below 30 degrees and rain and hail outside. The cold allowed the 5325 to go down a little thicker with more accelerator without any bubbling. The total floor was 3000 sq ft, and we were the 3rd coatings applicator to attempt the project. The first two contractors(C&L Coatings send 2 different crews using their Americrete products) put down coatings that required the club to miss a weekend of dancing for a 7 day cure, then ultimately the coatings failed less than 30 minutes after dancing started. We finished 12 hours before the first night of dancing where the crowd was the largest to date(500+ pairs of shoes breaking glass on the coating) for the anniversary of this place. This floor has been down since last Nov. and with minimal maintenance it still looks like the black mirror finish they specified. So without further ado...

If you guys want more pics of anything in particular let me know. Stains, pool decks, hard wood floors, garages, patios, lava flow, etc, I've got plenty of pics.

Thank You,

P.S. I have told Mark several times but I wanted to tell you that my guys are loving your floor coating and can't believe we didn't find you sooner. It's taking a little bit to get used to the 5073 but I think they are going to like it a lot as well.
