Versatile Building Products 4800 Industrial Epoxy Topcoat is a general use 100% solids clear and pigmented topcoat resin that exhibits great chemical. 4800 is also available in a Non-Yellowing formula for those projects having mild UV exposure. The Non-Yellowing formula is water clear and it is very resistant to yellowing from interior light exposure. 4800 Non-Yellowing is not recommended for exterior use or exposure. 4800 Industrial Epoxy Topcoat is primarily used as a system topcoat or system buildcoat in decorative, commercial, and industrial applications requiring low odor installation and specific chemical
resistance.

4800 Clear is widely accepted for use as an intermediate build coat over flake systems to give a smooth finish by coatings applicators. When used this way be sure to terminate the 4800 at the door edge, do not go onto exterior surface or it will yellow. Use 4800 as a General Use Clear and Pigmented Epoxy.

Randy took our advice and he was able to apply the 100% Solids Industrial Epoxy to all 20,000 sq ft in less than 5 hours.

Randy with Custom Garages LLC of Texas sent in some photos of a 20,000 sq ft job they just completed. They had a customer who already had an existing epoxy down that was looking pretty dull from the years of wear. The customer did not want to spend a fortune to remove all of it since it was down pretty tight and was not showing any areas of de lamination. Randy spent some time talking to our Technical Director Mark Glendrange and together they were able to come up with a cost effective solution.

Mark recommended that the surface be lightly sanded to de gloss it, also creating micro scratches which will provide tooth for the epoxy to stick to. Then a light solvent wipe was done just prior to the coating application. Mark gave Randy some pointers on how to work a squeegee along with backrolling techniques. This would be the best method of application due to the size of the project.

Testimonials

Hi John-  Thank you so much for your advice and for patiently answering all my questions regarding my application of Roll on Rock 2 to my home garage floor.  As you know, I was an inexperienced DYI home applicator but your product was easy to apply and looks GREAT!  The customer service was exceptional and I love the new flooring.  This product is infinitely better than the home store brands.  Thank You Again!!
